It is a study of a concentration of the Monarch butterfly in one solid circle. It’s intensity and impact of colour made possible due to the layer upon layer pinned on top of each other. A thick 3D cluster of 700+ individually profile cut butterflies printed onto light-reflective card, edges inked, antennae fixed – then pinned to the canvas to create a depth of 9cm. Capturing a scene that evokes life, energy, and disorder.

The frame is wood, finished in a matt white sprayed paint with a returned edge of 9cm
